Council on lookout for new faces for Finance Advisory Committee

Kiama Council is on the lookout for new faces to join its Finance Advisory Committee.

The committee is aiming to add at least four suitably qualified community members for the term starting in July.

Convening quarterly, the committee guides Council’s long-term financial plan and related reforms.

Meetings are held in person at the Council Administration Building or virtually via Microsoft Teams.

The committee aims to:

  • provide expert advice which informs the future financial sustainability of Council;
  • support and provide advice to Council’s Chief Executive Officer and Chief Financial Officer;
  • act as a conduit between the community and Council on financial concerns;
  • make recommendations to Council on specific financial concerns and matters.

Council will consider several factors in determining whether members should be added to the committee.

They must have relevant experience and expertise and be able to demonstrate that they are connected and representative of the community.

Council will also consider whether the person is a resident of the Kiama Local Government Area, there is a gender balance on the committee and a representation from across the full Kiama geographical area, and that

cultural and age diversity is represented.
