The State Emergency Service has issued a severe weather warning in the Illawarra for damaging winds on Wednesday morning.

Gale-force winds have hit around the Great Dividing Range and southern coast of NSW, including Wollongong, extending to south-eastern Sydney and Newcastle.

Blizzard conditions expected to continue about the ranges.

The SES is advising motorists to drive according to the conditions and follow Live Traffic NSW for road and traffic updates.

They are also being encouraged to secure loose items and to not park under trees in high winds.

To keep up to date with the weather warnings, visit the Hazards Near Me app or via the Bureau of Meteorology website.

If you require assistance in floods or storms, call NSW SES on 132 500. In life threatening situations call Triple Zero (000).

The Jamberoo Rural Fire Service has been busy attending incidents since the first call at 3.30am.

They have cleared trees from roads across the township. Recent rain has made many trees unstable.
